The oldest and most traditional form of motorcycle racing is flat track - sometimes referred to as dirt track-racing. Dating back to post-World War I, flat track is the NASCAR of motorcycle racing. These uniquely skilled riders take their traveling circuit to oval dirt tracks that range from 1/8 mile short tracks to 1 mile horse tracks. Riders finesse their specially designed machines sideways through the turns, just inches apart from each other. The pinnacle of the sport is the Open Pro class, also known as the "750" class. Here at Leamington the speeds will reach over 100 mph just before these brave riders chop the throttle momentarily and throw these 300lb bikes sideways. Think about that one for a moment. There is no margin for error. Simply put, flat track racing provides one of the most thrilling spectacles in all motor sports.
